LAFGECA UPDATE

LAFGECA maiden Football League took off on 18th June 2011, with a novelty Football match between the Old Boys of Anwar-Ul-Islam College, Agege and King’s College, Lagos, at the latter’s Football pitch. This was followed by another novelty match between students of St. Gregory’s College, Ikoyi and Anwar-Ul-Islam College, Agege.

The rest of the months between June 2010 and now were used to prosecute the historic LAFGECA Football League, the finals of we are here to witness today. On the whole, 64 matches were played in the first round that produced the eventual semi finalists: King’s College, Lagos (5) versus Baptist Academy Obanikoro (3); and Anwar-Ul-Islam College, Agege (5) versus Eko Boys’ High School, Mushin (3).

In the grand finale, the third place encounter between Eko Boys High School and Baptist Academy ended 5 – 3 penalty shootout in favour of Baptist Academy, and the final clash between the Diyya Giants of Ansar-Ul-Islam College and the Lion Kings of King’s College, which was a Football spectacle, also ended 4 – 2 penalty shootout in favour of the Lion Kings of King’s College.
